Digital Delivery Project

Our programmers expect to have an early version of the Digital Delivery Project ready in a week or two. If you have a product or service that you would like to sell, please prepare a “sales” page and a “delivery” page.

The sales page is the page used to promote your product/service.

The delivery page is the page where buyers get instant digital delivery of the item/service once they have purchased.

Please remember, we are only accepting products/services that can be digitally delivered online. We will not accept products/services that require physical delivery. Examples of items you could sell include things such as:

Digital photographs
E-books
Educational videos
Entertainment videos
Access to a protected website
Audio Books recorded as MP3s
Music MP3s
and anything else that can be downloaded or delivered online.

Important: You must be the legal owner or copyright holder of any product or service you sell through the VirtaPay service.

We’ll have more details on this project in the coming days. Thanks for participating as we work to take VirtaPay to the next level.

is this site similar to paybox.me?

if yes, then it should not be called a "payment processor" yet. even it becomes a payment processor, i do not think it will be very successful since there are already many good payment processors.

Tue, Mar 29 – DD Project Update
Posted on March 29, 2011 by VirtaPay

We are making steady progress on the VirtaPay Digital Delivery project. This blog post is designed to help you know what to expect as we get closer to launching the new features this project will bring.

The project will launch in two stages…

Stage 1

The first stage will allow a very limited number of sellers to post a handful of digital products for sale. These products will be available for purchase using your VirtaPay account balance. Users who buy these products will help with testing the Digital Delivery purchasing system.

This stage is to help us test on a limited scale, before rolling out to possibly thousands of sellers. The problems we find and fix in this stage will help prepare us for Stage 2.

We estimate the first stage will be ready for testing some time in the next two weeks. The release date could be sooner or later depending on possible unforeseen issues in development.

Stage 2

The second stage of the Digital Delivery project launch will allow many more VirtaPay users to become sellers. If you have a product or service that can be digitally-delivered, we may invite you to become a seller in this stage.

We estimate Stage 2 will be ready to launch 2 to 3 weeks after the launch of Stage 1. Again, this is just an estimate, it could be sooner or later depending on what development issues our programmers encounter.

Buy Now Buttons

Shown below are the “buy buttons” we have designed for use with our new digital delivery system. These buttons will be used on pages where the seller accepts VirtaPay as a form of payment.

Note: The buttons below are not functional, they’re just for demonstration purposes.

These designs are subject to change.

We will post new updates on our projects as more details become available.

Thanks for participating as we work to take VirtaPay to the next level!

Fri, Apr 8 – DD Update (part 2)
Posted on April 8, 2011 by VirtaPay

Today’s update is to inform our users that our programmers have run into a few issues that have slowed development of the Digital Delivery (DD) project. At this time they expect the Stage 1 launch of this project to be ready some time before the end of April.

More Details…

While working on the DD project, our programmers discovered and fixed a few critical bugs in the existing code. Fixing these issues caused a bit of delay. However, in order create to a stable service that can ultimately handle millions of users, these issues had to be resolved before the launch of the DD project.

We will post new updates on our projects as more details become available.

Thanks for participating as we work to take VirtaPay to the next level!

Wed, Apr 13 – DD Update (part 3)
Posted on April 13, 2011 by VirtaPay

Our developers are continuing to make progress on the new Digital Delivery (DD) project. They estimate that they have completed 90% of the code for sellers to manage items they are selling and 60% of the payment flow code. Once they have completed these and the remaining functions, features and automated processes that are required, the project will be ready for Stage 1 launch.

As a reminder, the project will launch in two stages…

Stage 1

The first stage will allow a very limited number of sellers to post a handful of digital products for sale. These products will be available for purchase using your VirtaPay account balance. This stage is designed to test the Digital Delivery system on a limited scale, before rolling out to possibly thousands of sellers. The problems we find and fix in this stage will help prepare us for Stage 2.

Due to a few delays we have encountered, we estimate Stage 1 will be ready for testing by the end of this month.

Tue, Apr 19 – DD Update (part 4)
Posted on April 19, 2011 by VirtaPay

The work continues on the Digital Delivery (DD) project. Our programmers estimate they have finished about 75% of the total project. There are several areas of the project that are still being developed, including a rating system for purchases. Current estimates are that the first stage of the project will be ready to launch by the end of next week.

For our new users, and as a reminder for our existing users, here’s a recap of how we plan to launch the DD project…

Mon, May 9 – DD Update (part 7)
Posted on May 9, 2011 by VirtaPay

We have both good and bad news to share today…

First, the good news.

Stage 1 of the Digital Delivery (DD) project is now ready to launch. Our programmers have resolved all of the issues and the new features are technically ready for users to begin testing.

The bad news?

We cannot launch Stage 1 quite yet. The new features that will be opened by the launch require some additions to our Terms of Service. The legal team is still working on the wording of these new sections.

The outlook…

As soon as this final bit is ready, we will issue an announcement that Stage 1 of the Digital Delivery project has launched. We expect that to happen this week. Although we knew delays were possible, and warned of this, we still wish to extend our sincere apology to our dedicated users for the delays we have encountered in preparing to launch Stage 1.

Thanks for participating as we work to take VirtaPay to the next level!

Mon, May 16 – DD Stage 1 has Launched!

Stage 1 has Launched… Finally! (Right?)

Stage 1 of our Digital Delivery (DD) project has launched. We quietly let it go live yesterday and we already have a lot of users testing the new features. If you would like to try it out, just log in to your VirtaPay account and click the new “Buy” or “Sell” tab in the top menu.

Give it a Try!

We’re asking all VirtaPay users to try the new features. Take a minute to log in and see what items other users have listed for sale. We hope that everyone will spend a little time buying items, rating items and flagging items. Please only flag an item if it is a non-digital (physical) item being sold, or if it violates our Prohibited Items List (explained on the site).

At this point, every VirtaPay user is a “Non-Certified Seller”. That means you can list one item for sale. Please make sure it is a digitally-delivered item—no physical items—and make sure it doesn’t violate our Prohibited Items List. In this stage, all items created are temporary and may be removed at any time. However, items that earn higher ratings will “survive” for longer.

More News & Details are Coming

The new features released with the Stage 1 launch required some changes and additions to the Terms of Service, so be sure to review that. We have a lot to say about the new features over the coming days and weeks. We will be explaining things more and helping prepare everyone for Stage 2.

Thanks for participating as we work to take VirtaPay to the next level!

Mon, May 23 – Stage 1 Update (part 1)

Posted on May 23, 2011 by VirtaPay

We have several things to share in this blog post, including a summary of where things stand, how you—as an EarlyBird user—can help, and what’s coming.

Where Things Stand

It’s been about a week since we launched Stage 1 of the Digital Delivery (DD) project. In that time thousands of users have been testing the features. This testing is helping us to prepare a list of changes, additions and fixes for when we launch Stage 2.

In the beginning, Sellers were generally listing very low-quality products, but as time goes on, the quality has gradually been improving. The 5-star rating system gives Buyers a voice—remember to use it. Sellers are realizing that they must offer a high-quality product and then actually deliver what they promise in order to earn a high ranking and stay listed.

The good news is that Buyer feedback forces competition among Sellers. As Sellers continue to compete for the top positions, the quality of products offered on VirtaPay will continue to get better and better.

Buyers beware. We have already covered this, and we will keep repeating it for as long as it seems necessary. Please avoid any item that offers money exchange (to PayPal, AlertPay, etc), or any item that offers a physical product (laptops, cell phones, tablet computers). These items are on our Prohibited Items List. To buy these items is to throw your earnings in the trash.

How You Can Help

Each day we deposit bonuses into the accounts of active VirtaPay EarlyBird users as a reward for using and testing our system as we develop it. Here are some ways you can help now that we are into Stage 1 (and preparing for Stage 2) of the DD project.

…how Buyers can help…

Please don’t forget to rate or flag every purchase you make. Your feedback on items is critical—your rating or flagging helps to separate the winning items from the, well, not-so-winning items.

Be on the lookout for high-quality original products and give them the high rating they deserve. Please only flag items that are on the Prohibited Items List (physical products, money exchanges, anything illegal, and so on).
…how Sellers can help…

Don’t post items on the Prohibited Items List. We are actively terminating accounts of Sellers who post prohibited items.

Improve the quality of items you offer. Think originality and quality. Please have a look at the Established Items. Take a few minutes to think about how you can make and offer better quality products. How did the top items get to the top? Why do Buyers prefer those items? Focus on creating quality products that Buyers will be happy to rate highly.
What’s Coming…

Did you know that a highly-rated product could earn you a legitimate, steady flow of “regular money” to your existing bank account? When Stage 2 launches, we will provide detailed methods and instructions to help Sellers do exactly this. In addition, Sellers will get specific instructions on how to produce high-quality, original products that Buyers will love and naturally reward with high ratings.

Although the earning potential for Sellers is high, it doesn’t matter whether you’re a Buyer, a Seller or both. In Stage 2, all VirtaPay users will learn methods they can use to start a steady flow of “regular money” into an existing bank account using VirtaPay.

We’ll have more to share over the coming days and weeks. Thanks for participating as we work to take VirtaPay to the next level.

Wed, Jun 1 – Stage 1 Update (part 2)

Posted on June 1, 2011 by VirtaPay

Since the launch of Stage 1 of the Digital Delivery (DD) project, thousands of our EarlyBird users have been helping test the features. This testing has helped us fix problems and prepare a list of items for the next stage. Stage 2 is where things get really exciting.

What’s coming in Stage 2?

Most of the new features coming in Stage 2 are designed to help you begin earning US$ in addition to VP$.

It doesn’t matter whether you want to use your VirtaPay account as a Buyer, a Seller, or both—we are working to give all of our users the tools you need to start a steady flow of “regular money” to your existing bank account using VirtaPay.

Keep up the good work…

Buyers: Please check the website regularly and see if there are any new items worth buying. If you find one, please reward it with a high rating. Please keep in mind that Stage 1 is mainly for testing. We expect the quality of products offered to get much better in Stage 2.

Sellers: Please continue posting items for sale. Remember to focus on quality. Create your own digital product (ebook, photographs, etc). Offer something of real value. The buyers are not interested in products that are nothing more than links to other websites. If you learn to do this now, you will have a head-start on all of the other Sellers when Stage 2 launches. (Note: The maximum price for an item has been lowered to $25 because most of the high priced items listed were prohibited items.)

We don’t have an exact estimate for when Stage 2 will launch, but, we’ll keep you updated as we get closer. Thanks for participating as we work to take VirtaPay to the next level.

Tue, Jun 7 – Important Notice

Posted on June 7, 2011 by VirtaPay

Stage 1 of the Digital Delivery (DD) project has been live for a few weeks now. In that time, we have decided to integrate Facebook more deeply than we originally planned. It is very important that all VirtaPay users read this post to understand what Facebook integration features are in the works and why. Please read on…

Why Facebook integration?

From the time we gave our users the ability to sell items, certain people or organizations have been flooding the item listings with inappropriate items. This is an abuse of our service and resources. It also pushes out our valued users who are trying to buy and sell legitimate items.

The item spammers have disrupted our service to the point where many of our valued users don’t even bother to look at the items on the Buy page any longer. They are tired of seeing the spam listings. The spammers have been creating multiple accounts to post the same unwanted, inappropriate items over and over.

Although we have come up with many ways to slow the flood of inappropriate items, and have continuously deleted the multiple accounts of the spammers, it hasn’t been effective enough.

Facebook account required…

We will soon require all users to link a Facebook account to their VirtaPay account. Facebook provides identity verification services that will help eliminate the abusive users. We expect that by taking this step the problem of item spammers and multiple accounts will become far more manageable. In addition, it will help free our developers to continue working on new features and improving our service, rather than constantly struggling to find ways to stop abusive users.

We may eventually remove the requirement for all VirtaPay users to link a Facebook account. But, during our development stages, while we are still developing our service, it will soon be a requirement for all users.

What features are coming?

Stage 2 of the DD project is in the works. The Facebook integration is part of Stage 2.

You will soon be able to log into your VirtaPay account using Facebook.

You will be able to send payments by pulling up your Facebook friends instead having to know the recipient’s VirtaPay username.

Your Facebook friends will be able to easily send you a VirtaPay payment.

Stage 2 will also include new features designed to help you begin earning a steady flow of regular money (US dollars, euros, pesos, etc.) to your existing bank account. These cash flow features will work whether you’re a Buyer, a Seller or both.

Thanks!

Thanks for participating as we work to take VirtaPay to the next level!

Tue, Jul 5 – Get Ready…

Posted on July 5, 2011 by VirtaPay

The next feature set for VirtaPay will be released in the coming 24 hours! Many of the new features center around Facebook integration. In tomorrow’s blog post, we’ll cover what you can do with these new features in more detail.

Reminder: As soon as these features go live, you will be required to use a Facebook profile to log in to your VirtaPay account. The reasons for this requirement have already been covered in previous blog posts.

Once these features are live on VirtaPay, we’ll be back on track. Our developers will move straight into the next project, which is finishing Stage 2 of our Digital Delivery project. They will be improving and adding to the features released in Stage 1. In addition, there will be a heavy focus on helping you begin earning regular money to your existing bank account just for using VirtaPay.

We will have more details in tomorrow’s blog post…

Wed, Jul 6 – New Features are Live

Posted on July 6, 2011 by VirtaPay

As mentioned yesterday, the new Facebook integration features have gone live on the website. Today’s blog post covers the major changes, what they mean for our users and how they benefit you.

What’s changed on the website?

This update to the website brought several big changes and a lot of minor changes. We’ll just cover the big ones here…

Login System — The first thing most users will notice is the login system now requires Facebook. If you don’t already have a Facebook account, just go to their website and get one (it’s free), then you can log in to VirtaPay.

$100 Bonus — A $100 bonus will be added to your account when you link your Facebook account. This bonus will also be automatically added to the accounts of all new users.

$25 Referral Bonus — You will now earn a $25 bonus to your account for each new user you refer using your personal referral link. To get this link, just log in and look at the bottom of the “My Account” page.

Send to Facebook Friends — You can now send VirtaPay payments to your Facebook friends… even if they don’t already have a VirtaPay account. In addition, if they join VirtaPay to claim your payment, you’ll earn the $25 referral bonus to your account.

Wall Post to Facebook — At the bottom of the “My Account” page (when you first log in) there is now an option to post to your Facebook wall. This will post your personal referral link to your wall. You can say whatever you want in the wall post, but the referral link is already pre-loaded for you.

For Buyers — Payment for items now relies on your Facebook login. No more entering a username & password every time you want to purchase an item.

For Sellers — As you may have noticed, the ability to add new items has been re-activated. This allows us to test the new Facebook integration features. However, it’s temporary. Any items added will probably be removed when the next feature set is released.

More Features Coming Soon...

Our programmers are now working on Stage 2 of the Digital Delivery project. The new features being developed include many enhancements to the existing buying/selling process. Also included will be exciting new ways to earn a steady stream of real money to your existing bank account as a user of VirtaPay.

When the next feature set is released, we expect the quality of digital items offered by our sellers will become much better than it is today. There will be competition among sellers to sell the best quality digital items. The better quality items they offer, the more opportunity they will have to earn real money.

Thanks for participating as we work to take VirtaPay to the next level!
